More effective air conditioning inspections: Lessons from Harmonac

Free one-day seminar

7 July 2010 - BRE, Watford

Details :

The Energy Performance of Building Directive has made regular inspections of air-conditioning systems mandatory throughout Europe. The Recast of the Directive will encourage flexibility in the timing and perhaps the extent of inspections in the future.

The Harmonac project has been examining how to get best value for money from inspections based on feedback from practical experience with inspections, field trials and case studies throughout Europe.

As the work approaches its conclusion, the project is holding a free public seminar to explain and discuss its findings.

Speakers from across Europe and the UK will discuss:

  • the emerging conclusions
  • recommendations for effective inspection procedures
  • how these have been derived from a large programme of inspections and more detailed case studies
  • how to access the database of field trials and detailed case studies
  • the situations in which energy consumption records and specialised computer programmes are (and are not) useful
  • the inspectors view

Speakers will include:

  • Ian Knight, Welsh School of Architecture
  • Jerome Adnot, Armines, France
  • Dave Wright, MacWhirter Ltd, Cardiff
  • JoseLuis Alexander, INEGI, Portugal
  • Philippe Andre, Université de Liège, Belgium
  • Margarita Assimakopoulos, University of Athens, Greece

Programme :

The workshop will be held from 09:30 – 16:00.  There will be plenty of opportunity to comment and to ask questions

Intended audience :
